19902VW Cabrio w/ 1.8T
« on: January 22, 2010, 03:32:17 am »
Hey guys, I'm getting ready to drop an 1.8T out of an '98 Audi A4 into my '92 VW Cabrio. I'm looking for some assistance on which setup to purchase. The engine has individual coil packs.

What do I need to make sure that I order when I get the complete v3.x ECU? Any options that I need?

Please lend some assistance! This thread will also be used to my build/install progress when we start.

The engine just arrived last night, we're ordering rods, a timing belt kit, ARP headstuds, MLS headgasket among other things. The car is coming into the garage this week to get the engine bay cleaned up and organized, and then we are planning to order VEMs.

However, I'm still looking for assistance for what options to get with the ECU. Can anyone lend some assistance? Money in hand!

Does that have active coils?

If so,
4 IGBT drivers, 4 blank
8 injector outputs.

If not.
8 ignition drivers and 8 injector drivers.

Or, regardless of active coils or not : 8 ignition drivers and 8 injector drivers.
Drive active coils with the stepper outputs on a 4 cyl engine.
