Title: 24 sparkplugs, what should i do?
Post by: Kartis on February 27, 2010, 06:53:27 am
Got a mercedes v12 with twin plugs.
Tried to get this to work with four 2x3 Bosch coilpacks (Webshop) and four ignition controle modules (0 227 100 203)
So 1 igbt output controlls 2 modules, 500ohm pullup to +12v, Invert driver output enabled.
During cranking i get very long dwell, 2sec and this this blows the fuse, or the ignition module ::)
Looking for alternative options. Can i put dual igbt´s in a external box and drive these with logic outputs?
Since this engine requires six outputs in wasted spark i can´t use stepper.

you can't drive 2 coil with one igbt. One coil=1 igbt. But you can drive more than one igbt with one vems chanell. But you need to add resistors for all external igbt and short resistor in vems box.

Yes that was my thought, how should i size the resistors? If i remember correctly i got 510ohm in the ecu now,

510 should be ok.
