Title: USB to serial adapter - This one OK ?
Post by: Agriv8 on April 24, 2007, 08:12:26 AM
Well I have bought my self a new laptop - I need one of the USB to serial adapters, I know these can be troblesome at the best of times ( Personal experience of this happening ). So anyone any experience if these ones are OK from Maplin ?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29968&criteria=usb%20serial&doy=24m4 (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29968&criteria=usb%20serial&doy=24m4)

Kind regards

I use FTDI ones at work (which is what easysync seem to be supplying) they're fantastic, never had a problem.

I have one of those Maplins ones but I can't tell you if it works or not  ::)

It uses the prolific chipset and looking at the megasquirt forums, it seems a bit hit 'n miss but I see some reports of using the latest drivers may help.
