Title: Audi RS6 (BCY) Variable cam trigger?
Post by: Manick on December 20, 2015, 01:17:40 AM
Hey fellows,

Im working on a project involving VEMS and a 4,2 liter V8 engine with variable intake cams. I noticed that the trigger wheels on theese look a bit different then i am used to, im guessing due to the variable cams.

How can i set this up in VEMS? Will VEMS be able to read this trigger or do i need to replace/modify it?

Image of the trigger in question.

Hi,

Do you have a diagram of crank trigger teeth vs cam trigger teeth?

That kinda looks like the current Bosch cam trigger for quick sync and fast start. With a diagram or vems trigger log I am sure that can be made to work

It does look like you are absolutly spot on with the bosch quick start triggering system btw, i just found this image confirming.

Yes, you can use that triggers. I did few 4.2(old type with on/off variable camming and new continue type). You just need to set proper rise/fall and filtering.

That sounds awesome!
Can you point me in the right direction into where to start and how to "think"?
If you by any chance have a config file that you can share with a setup for this i would be extremly thankfull, that would help me a whole lot!

This helps me alot, thanks a million!

We're going for a 1000hp+ build here and i really dont think this would be possible with any of the other aftermaket ECU's out there, have been mapping some Audi 5's with vems, also fiddled some with Nira, motronics, Trionic and so on but the one's allways standing out is VEMS..

i'm also building 1000+ HP (80mm turbo) for my c5 rs6. But my base we bee 360HP 4.2 40v engine from s8, high compression.
BTW do you need stock engine(450HP) and gearbox. Now i have one to many :).

Im going for a twin turbo setup in my S8 D2, running two Borg Warner EFR-6758 :)
Extra engine blocks is always useful, i fitted my current one with forged rods, but you never know when something goes wrong.. :)

whit that turbo you will be on very limit for 1000HP with the biggest housing(0.85 A/R).
imho much better choise is 7163, same spool but you can get more power.

Yea, might be so but they are replaceable :) Im gonna run it on E85 as well so i can squeeze a few more horsies out of them with more agressive ignition :)

Probably old firmware, use 1.2.31 firmware.

But your firmware have all options for that type of trigger.

I actually used the 1.2.32 version found in vems tune :/ But if this is all i need i'll start with this.

Thanks again MWfire, your knowledge that you shared with me will really come in handy!
