Hey fellows!
I thought it might be a good idea to both introduce my self here and also start some kind of project topic here as well.
Name is Tommy, 30 years of age (so far) living in Stockholm Sweden. I started my "mapping-career" on my saab 9-5 in 2008 and im also running/hosting the biggest forum for tuning saabs trionic systems on http://www.trionictuning.com. I have been working with both trionic systems, some VEMS and Nira installations on audi 5 cyl engines, also done some mapping on subaru/evo's.
Current VEMS Config:http://www.trionictuning.com/VEMS/BCY_V1.vemscfg (http://www.trionictuning.com/VEMS/BCY_V1.vemscfg)- "offline" startup configuration, work in progress.

Soooo, to the project. The project car is a 1997 Audi S8 with a manual 6 speed 01E transmission. Gearbox will get a complete overhaul with new synchros, trippleplate clutch, quaife differential for the front axle and a SQS differential for the rear axle.

The goal with the project is to build a real sleeper using a Audi RS6 BCY engine as source of the power.
The engine is completly overhauled with new bearings, con rods, gaskets and so on, everything to make it as reliable as possible.

More info to come... Just had to start somewhere :)
Updated first post with current vems configuration, will be updated during the whole process.
Looks like it´ll be a great project.

Yea, really looking forward to get the engine fitted to the car (will be done this winter) and get her fired up. Got more or less everything sorted out, exhaust manifolds are to be welded, pressure pipes/oil/water for the turbos will be sorted out once we start to fit the engine to the car. Fingers are itching so to speak :D
This build got some love during the christmas weekend as well..
Heads Have been sort of stripped down, needed to replace the chain tensioner gliders in both heads so i took the oportunity to clean everything up while i was at it :)
Everything out, cleaned and sorted

Gliders where a bit poor so new are on the way, also orderd some new new gaskets.

Added link to pinout document in first post.

Right now its used for coolant fan relay and RPM acctuator
Hello
Very good project.
Do you have news?
Thanks
Not really no.
I had the heads picked a part as you can see above, they are now both put together again with new chain tensioners, chains etc.
Vems is at Sävar turbo for some modifications and the car is about to be stripped to pieces.

Long time since there was an update here.. :/
Car is now stripped down of its guts, engine rebuild completed and i just got it back with new exhaust manifolds for the turbos :D

How did you connect the 01E to the BCY? They don't bolt on and I don't see an adapter plate. Did you use the S8 block instead when you assembled the motor?
The 01E is bolt on to the BCY engine. Only needed to modify the bracket for the starter engine, other then that its bolt on, no adapters needed.

Really? That is news to me... is there a different block in other RS6's? I've only ever heard that the RS6 block was made with the large bell housing from the W12 cars and didn't directly accept the 01E... everyone was making adapters for the transmission and making special clutch kits/flywheels.
Not what i know of no. This one is bolt on except the starter bracket.

Sorry and all of the factory bell housing screws fit into the block? Or are some unusable?
According to a friend not all the bolts line up.. what are you doing to do? right now only 3 bolts work with your current configuration (green)... 2 more can be drilled and tapped (yellow). but none on the bottom in red will work.

I'll hook you up with some pictures when im in the garage. As i wrote, the ones around the starter needs to be moved as the starter needs to be moved inwards towards the center of the flywhee, auto-flywheel are bigger, also the holes doesnt line up properly.
We havent done the final fittings of the gearbox yet, the one on the engine is not the i will use, but if i remember correctly, its only the two in the bottom that might be out of line, otherwize, the bolt pattern is the same.
Also, nothing on this build is bolt on. The headers as you see them on the picture here is more or less cut up again due to space issues.. :/

I realize it's all custom, but I was surprised you said it all just bolts on as it's common knowledge for some time now that this is not the case, the RS6 block has a much larger bolt pattern for the bell housing.
Anyway, I'm sure you will get it to work. Looking forward to the updates!
