I thought I'd post up what I'm doing... My car is an S14 200SX that I bought to use on the track.

Chassis wise its stripped out, with a full bolt-in cage, fully adjustable suspension, big brakes etc etc etc.
Originally it had an SR20DET which delaminated a bearing at Silverstone, so is being re-built by Ben at Angel-works, the bottom end build can be seen here: http://www.angel-works.co.uk/articles/sr20det.php Currently the cylinder head is under development with 1mm over sized valves and a complete flow-development job is being carried out.
So while this is happening I've decided to drop in a second engine, this time a non-turbo SR20DE (note the lack of a 'T' there).
Why? Well the suspension hasnt been setup correctly yet, and I'm out of practice driving RWD, so I need to setup the suspension and improve my skills by getting a running car that I can compete in a Winter Sprint series, which will provide me with timing information to show how the chassis and the driver are improving.
I am controlling the engine using a VEMS v3 with a v3 harness modified and spliced to connect engine to ECU. The distributor is being kept, all be it with a modified CAS disk and Mitsubishi EVO4 coils provide the sparks.

Ahhhh....S14 is soooo nice...its a bit expensive here where i live 7000eur for 97' (expensive comparing to S13 92 for 2500eur)

Thats why I bought the NA one here, the turbo engines seem to hold a stupidly high price, and don't aways seem to be worth it, people can't seem to sell the NAs so they're an affordable midway engine :D

Did you have to widen the "D" hole in the new CAS disc to get it to fit, or was that just my bad luck?
Yep, I had the needle file out for a bit of clearance, strange how it fits the CAS but not the distributor - the shaft must be 0.1m wider. ???

Time for an update...
I got the engine running and as it warmed-up I was unlucky enough to hear a rather nasty hammering sound from the top-end. Pulling the cam cover showed me that the hydralic lash adjuster had bled down and it wasnt interested in pumping up again. So I took the executive decision to pull the head and fit some of the goodies I had stored up for the SR20DET engine.
My mate Ben@Angelworks said he could do me a bowl and seat gasflow job in an evening, so the head was stripped, washed and he did the seats with his awesome Newnen CNC seat cutter then ground the valves on his Serdi machine. I fitted my solid lash adjusters and double springs which will allow me to try camshafts with silly profiles. The head has had 1.5mm skimmed off it to get the compression a little over 11:1 and I've fitted adjustable cam gears so that I can zero the cams back in as the skimming knocks the timing out by a few degrees.
I've also found Martin Breuwer http://www.martinbruwer.com/ in South Africa who makes ITBs for the SR20DE engine, so now my engine looks like this:

All I need now is to finish the install (thanks Nissan for making things pointlessly complicated - why should you have one fuel rail and one tps across the range of engines when 5 different types will do as well?) which now is to only modify the fuel rail and fit the fuel regulator.

Well I was going to trailer the car over to APT for suspension alignment and a rolling road session.
But I can get the alignment done through a mate locally, and then pay Ã,£40 for the day at Gosfield where Matt (Team Dandism) did has car.

Bit of a disappointment really as the engine only made 159.9bhp@6500rpm
Towards the end of the day the screw-on gland on the end of the throttle cable came off, and I had to remove the vacuum connection to the brake booster so I had room to work. Unfortunately I forgot to put the pipe back on so when I noticed the problem and reconnected the pipe I found that the idle mixture was very rich. Thankfully the pipe draws almost no vacuum past 3 to 5% of throttle so its only a few cells that are affected.
A fortunate side-effect is that I found just how much the RPM can be controlled by this vacuum feed and it will allow me to use an IACV (if I can find one with a 5mm ID) I tried a boost valve that I had sitting around and found that it had a bit of an effect, but was too restrictive to be much use. I might be able to make something using one of the old Nissan solenoids, with a block of aluminium and a t- piece.
Of course with AlphaN the opening of an IACV will not be reflected in the fuel and ignition table as it is in speed density, so a while back I asked for a change that would scale the TPS value based on the duty/position of the IACV, so you'd set a TPS value that corresponds to the the IACV being full open (say 2%) and then the TPS value would be incremented with the %age of the IACV - so if the IACV is at 50percent duty/half open, the TPS would be adjusted to read 1%.
This is apparently in the versions above 1.1.30, none of which are stable enough for releases... So I'm now stuck like so many of the rest of us I'm stuck waiting on a feature...

Rob's and my engine should be directly comparable in stock form. Edit: His is about 11.0:1 compression (mine is 9.5:1)
I don't have VTC I don't think. Not even sure what that is, variable valve timing and/or lift?
I don't have any revised ports. My engine is completely stock from the air intake to the exhaust tail pipe.
Rob, don't feel bad. I'm making significantly more power than anyone else has ever made with a stock DE. I wouldn't take it too hard. =]

Full throttle fuel, spark, and lambda.
Compression test figures.
Do your engines have the same cam spec?
Are the heads varied? Silvertop vs blacktop or whatever?
Perhaps theres some mechanical difference causing the issue?
What cams are you using and at what timings?
Looking at the graph its a very nice road car setup with a swell of torque through the midrange.
If you want more power then advancing the inlet would probably help, or stepping up to a cam with a higher lift and therefore longer duration. But you will lose that midrange bulge.....
Alternatively, have you considered fitting a turbocharger? I hear they're all the rage with the kids ;)

without cam gears Im sure the 1.0mm skim would ahve thrown the cam timing a bit?
Yeah the skim would have moved the timing, but I have adjustable cam gears and zero'ed the cams in on their factory settings.
I may try advancing the inlet a little, and I'd very much like my turbo engine back, but theres also the possability of doubling the number of cylinders for sir's pleasure...

Before you go altering the current cam position, would it be possible to get the lift@ TDC figures it's currently timed at for the inlet and exhaust? This would reveal a lot. If the TDC marking is accurate, you'll only need 1 DTi (But it is a lot easier with with 3....and looks more impressive to people observing lol)

I'm pretty sure that I can find the stock lift figures somewhere. At the moment the car sits unlooked at because of rather more pressing work issues.
