Title: Coil Recommendation
Post by: MTRacing on February 12, 2008, 05:00:39 PM
Any recommendations out there for a small, standard style coil (no igniter/integrated driver) for my Chevy V-8 C.O.P. set up?

Does anyone make a 4 coil pack without the ignitor/driver circuits?

Space is limited where I'd like to mount them.

Any choice web sites that give technical data would be great.

My VEMS is configured with the IGBT outputs.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Two MSD 'Ford Coil Pack, 4-Tower' coil packs would do you well (MSD part number PN8241) for a wasted spark setup.
Or four of these: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?CP=1&part=SUM-850017
Or eight of these: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?CP=1&part=ACC-140021

Or hunt round the scrap yards for 1995-1998 Ford 4.6 engines or any other '95 on car and see what takes your fancy, I prefer to get an engine running cheaply then add the good parts to a stable, proven base.

I'm using individual coils from 034 Motorsport.  They're not huge, but I did struggle a bit to get them in the TVR when I fitted the (oversized) twin plenum with long runner manifold.
