Title: Subaru IAC valve (6 wire)
Post by: M-Tech on January 01, 2008, 12:38:18 pm
As I've noticed the IAC solenoid has 4 channels not two.
How to control and what settings to use with them?
6 wires, 2 of them are +12 volts and 4 are going to the ecu so they must be separate channels.

Sounds like a stepper motor IAC to me.  You'll need to find out more from the original Subaru information.

The MY99 EJ20 turbos have steppers as Rob says.  They obviously connect to the stepper driver on the VEMS.  You then have to set the step sequence in the VEMS config so that it drives the motor in the right direction - info is on the wiki for this.

I was afraid of that.

Now I suppose I have to use coilpack w/o ignition amplifier or can I wire the coilpack with ignition amplifier to other outputs?

Well there are two choices:
1) Remove the IGBTs and bridge the drive to the output.
2) Get a different coil like an early Subaru type, coil near, or what ever you can find thats cheap and easy :)

The Subaru stepper can be controlled , without problems,
Just disconnect the 2  +12v wires!.

Just for info :)
