M20B25 config check + Sharper throttle response?
« on: April 06, 2016, 07:49:25 pm »
Hi!

Is there any tricks to get the throttle response more sharp than it is?
Also check out my config please. I don't know if i'm going to the right direction with it.  :)

Engine is M20B25 with some modifications (ported head, lightened flywheel, headers, and i guess bigger CR). As for now i'm using the original ignition coil and distributor.

Uploaded my config file and a log. At the end of the log theres couple throttle blips from idle.

as my eyes see it, that map is completely wrong, acceleration settings wrong..

Can you be more specific please? What's wrong with my map? What's wrong with my acceleration settings?
Thanks.

Changed my injectors to smaller ones (192cc), and remapped the VE table. Uploaded the newer config to the gdrive link above (v3.3_u002036-A-2016.04.07-17.33.25.vemscfg).

Injector settings are these right now:

Is this any reasonable for 192cc injectors?

My other problem is still the throttle response. Whenever i add throttle from idle, there's a little bit of delay to the engine reacts. I'm getting vaccuum for the map sensor from the tube that goes to the fuel pressure regulator (BMW M20 engine). This can cause the "delay" or it is just the accel dtps/dmap need to be properly tuned?
I expected so much better throttle response from this ecu.

Any advice?

You canĀ“t blame the ecu for throttle response.

How did you arrive at those injector values?

There's a writeup which says modify lambda target to 0.8 on idle, and if it's over 0.8->decrease dead tim, if it's under 0.8->increase.

Fiddling with the values gave me this results.

Thats definitely incorrect.

You need to test various lambda values as targeted by the lambda table, if the lambda is as close to the target as possible with just changing the lambda target the injector dead trim is correct.

Um... But it's in the vemstune help.  :o

http://vems.hu/vt/help/v3/v3_injector_settings.html

Quote
Further live mapping of the dead time is possible and this is how to do it:

1. Warm up the engine and get idling as steadily as possible at lambda 1.0, make sure the lambda target map in idle area is also set to lambda 1.0, retuning VE table where needed.
2. Change the lambda target section at current cursor position (adjust a box of neighbouring cells also) to 0.8 and press BURN
3. If the measured lambda becomes richer then 0.8 you need longer dead time, if it's lean then you need shorter dead time so change the value accordingly by 50%
4. Put the target back to 1.0 and press BURN
5. Adjust VE map until it idles at 1.0
6. Go back to step 2 and repeat until changing the lambda target always results in the measured lambda being the same. As you get closer to getting correct lambda values all the time make smaller changes.

I guess i'm going to use the simplified version of the deadtime. Injector rampup is around 800 in the default vems config.  :o

Any other thoughts with the throttle response?

You have misunderstood the process.

Nah, it's the 0 280 150 714 ones. Although these are yellow too.
