VEMS board modifications for LSU 4.9
« on: November 28, 2016, 09:09:11 pm »
Hi, I'm going to upgrade 3 VEMS ECU's from LSU 4.2 to LSU 4.9, adding a 27k resistor between Nerst pin and +5v, but I have 2 questions:

Why is the documentation on this, not showing a simple picture of where and how to wire this ? (I'll find out, but could be nice) http://vems.hu/download/sensors/LSU4.9/LSU4.9_pinout.pdf

point 2, it say's on the wiki site, that all VEMS boxes from 2016 come from the factory with a hardware that is compatible with both 4.2 and 4.9 sensors. Did they make any layout changes on the HW to implement the 27k pull-up, and don't this mess up the 4.2 circuit ?

Anyway, I'll update you tomorrow, I have 3 old ECU's v 3.6 and v3.8, one early 2016 ECU v3.8B and a brand new one.

Done upgrading.

Some usefull information, that's lacking on the wiki page and in the documentation:
- from evaluation boards v3.7, v3.8 and v3.8B do it seems like the 27k pull-up is implemented on board versions v3.8B, previous boards dont have pad's for mounting the pull-up resistor. See this picture for difference on the underside v3.8 vs v3.8B. v3.8B have pads for 2 resistors (only mounted on lambda 1 channel on this board)

On the older boards do the pull-up 27k need to go from +5v to EC18-13 (lambda 1 nerst) and from +5v to EC18-1 Lambda 2 Nerst. Can be done like this, if it's a dual lambda setup.

Any chance for a pic re-up?
