adding 2nd trigger chip

hi, not been about for a while, with house moving etc.... however while about to move house i have been asked by tony to add the 2nd trigger and replace his p259 chip.


looking at the pin outs do i need to add the wire for EC18-12 when it's showing the 2nd trigger on EC36-13?

When replacing the P259 chip i noted a wire briging the ouput to the fuel pump from the chip to the test pad for that channel, when i removed the chip i found the pad and track to be dammaged. so i have changed to chip and replaced the wire. However tony say it's never been replaced can i find the history for the ecu from some where?

On onother note, there is a chip to which i can find no information, it's 1/2 way up on the left when view'd with the connectors at the bottom. tony's ecu does not have it but mine does.

As I recall Tony sent me the VEMS because the fuel pump channel was out - I did some tests, pulled the leg on pin1 which damaged the PCB, so I ran a flying lead.  The legs all got resoldered just to make sure that a dry joint was not causing the issue with the dead pump channel.

I'm not sure why they use the EC18-12, they do use a flying lead to bridge the second trigger - you loose an analog input that way though.

That clears the p259 wire up,

So what is EC36-13 for? just so tony knows where to put the dignal wire.... ;)

EC18 pin 13 is for WBo2 Nernst signal. Usually EC18 pin 12 is used for secondary VR intput.

he's not using it at the moment, but wants it in for cop/ full sync inj.... while i was changing the p259.

so any light in the other chip?

The other chip is a four channel Op Amp for the EBP and FP inputs as well as two spare analogue inputs, its not quite clear in the schematic on the last two and the EBP and FP would need jumpers onboard anyway

Second sync should be Hall if using a home-made trigger, using VR for a sync even on OEM triggers is always problematic without the right filtering.  They're so sensitive to noise that a false signal is a common occurance.

Then how about this,
the ecu only needs to see the sync signal once right?
After that it can tell it self which phase it´s on by checking what injector is being fired at that particular phase.
or ignition output.

So after establishing which phase it´s on why not disregard the sync input?
After the sync input the crank rotation isn´t 360degrees but 720degrees and the ECU will now know exactly where the crank is.
So after 720degress of rotation it can start again without needing the sync signal. Is this making sense?
