24+1 trigger
« on: July 15, 2009, 02:02:53 am »
I'm struggling to finish my 4AGE 20V into AE86 swap and I seem to be stranded on this trigger issue.

I'm trying to run a 24+1 trigger setup. At vems.hu/wiki I was told to use the 1.1.27 firmware as this could handle N+1 but N<=11. And as you would suspect it doesn't work.

Secundary trigger is now working. Seems quite good as it pics up quite small signals. It calculates the engine speed to a steady 250 rpm while cranking. But now it fires quite crazy, not 180 degrees apart like you would think. Pattern looks like this:

Its the same pattern every time so I don't think its due to a noisy trigger.

Is anybody running a 24+1 setup? Could you please tell me wich firmware I would have to use? I've tried 1.0.73, 1.1.18, 1.1.27, 1.1.41 and 1.1.44 all with the same result...

Anyways this is my config and tables - does this look right:

primary_trigger=13
secondary_trigger=1D
tooth_wheel=18
trigger_tooth=03
another_trigger_tooth=06
crank_minper=13
tooth_wheel_twidth1=78
tooth_wheel_twidth2=00
cam_sync_r_edge_phase=33
cam_sync_f_edge_phase=46
reset_engphase_after=40

Nissans by Rob all running 24+1. With one difference - optical sensor. Toyota have VR sensors.

For 1.1.44 with VR sensors:
Rising
coil-type
disabled
disabled
..
normal

45...70deg
24
0...5
6
2000....3000
......

Angular width of tooth 30.00

------------------------------

Secondary
Just put 25 in top row, hit burn.

-------------------

refference tooth table

12
6
0
18

---------------------
And that's all basics.

You can post your msq. Raw config is not so readable.

 (i do not recommend this firmware)

Thanks! I'll compare that to what I got in the morning!

Whats wrong with the 1.1.44 firmware? You are using it on an S13 right?

Jan,

When you have spend some more time trying to get it to work,and it will still not be perfect,
then mount a 36-1 wheel on the crank,

You would have whissed you did it from the start.

36-1 FTW

Maybe you're right Skassa but I would rather do it this way first. And if it doesn't run properly then I'll take it from there...

Problem was in the reference toth table. Now they are 180 degrees apart like they should be. How does your h[2] look like? And in wich order do you fire each cylinder?

assuming 1-3-4-2 firing order.

12       cyl4
6        cyl3
0        cyl1
18       cyl2

But everything here can be shifted.

Does this mean that your H[2] looks like this:

0      cyl4
1      cyl3
2      cyl1
3      cyl2

And H[0]:

0      cyl2
1      cyl1
2      cyl3
3      cyl4

Or does it look differently because of the backwards transversed H[2]? I just can't figure this out :-\

In my case it looks so:

0    12       cyl4
1     6        cyl3
2     0        cyl1
3    18       cyl2

Andt tooth 0 is between cyl 2 and cyl1.

And I see that I got 1 and 4 mixed up in my tables...
