Configuration / LOADING config files
Last post by yhzman - June 18, 2024, 02:57:37 PM
Hello. Quite new to vems, but been working in auto field for 30+ years. Have what i consider an odd problem with this unit.
I had been using an older version of firmware and had problems with spark-see in ignition section- so I loaded the latest version of the firmware and also updated the vemstune.
Before this I had saved 3 config files from the older firmware and the car ran and had no issues when running config verification.
Now with the new firmware when I load the config it fails to load. Loads for 70 seconds and says unable to verify config.
Do I  need to start over?

Ignition / strange issues
Last post by yhzman - June 18, 2024, 02:42:43 PM
Hello everyone. i'm working on my brothers 85 peugeot that the previous owner installed vems in, along with other goodies.
The problem has always been starting the car. he wired the spark out to the stepper motor outputs in the ec18 plug with a ignition amplifier.
the spark was always weak cranking so the car would start when turning key from start to run. tried changing to pin 35 and all of the other 7 amp outputs and have no spark. Even when going into test mode.
loaded new firmware and updated vemstune. same result.
took apart vems ecu, no visually burned circuits.
Need help, suggestions.
Thanks
Have another issue I will post in fuel injection.

ch6, but I tried a few. yes, they show up in ADC ALL - hence my pondering whether or not "launchcontrolsw" is a flag calculated in VEMSTune rather than VEMS.

I've read as much as I can find about this in F1 help, wiki, and other things :)

here should be the most recent config! I'm not sure a log would be more helpful, but let me know if you'd rather one

Which analog input did you use for the switch? In the ADC ALL screen, does the input change with switch movement? Or do you want it wheelspeed based?

I suggest going to the Motorsports->Launch Control screen and press the F1 key for the help and read that if you haven't already.

Beyond that, it's hard to help without knowing how you're trying to set it up specifically. A .vemscfg or .vemslog would be helpful. Help -> Vems Sharing Center is a quick and convenient way to share vemscfg and log files if you'd like to do that.

Configuration / Launch control config requirem...
Last post by four0four - January 07, 2024, 03:52:58 AM
Hiya,

I have a VEMS pnp install from Peep that I've been using for some months, and I'd like to play with launch control (largely for traction reasons...). It seems straightforward to enable, and I can see the "launchcontrolsw" flag set in VEMSTune. I'm not sure if this is calculated on the ECU or in VEMSTune via ADC measurements, though, so this may not be useful. Despite this, the Launch Control flag never goes green (and the car obviously acts like Launch Control is turned off).

I dug around in .inis and old megasquirtavr source, but I can't find any predicate I'm missing. Engine is on, warmed up, no errors present. I added an accurate wheelspeed source, which is perfectly functional. launchcontrolsw is green, Launch Control isn't.

From a default config, beyond wheelspeed:rpm table, what should be changed to enable Launch Control? I assume that it should go green regardless of config details given everything stated, and yet...

Thanks :)

Thanks
Had to restore virgin config, then resize all gauges and the gauges fit perfect on the screen! :) and then of course change symbols here and there to personalize view but thats quick to do.
Thanks again!  :) :)

Projects & Installs / Need help with identifying Vem...
Last post by Nsa777 - January 05, 2024, 04:33:47 AM
Hi everyone. Need help with pinout to the v3 that I bought used for my project. Bought car with missing ecu and partially cut wiring. Car specs: bmw e34 m50b30 turbo with ethanol. 3.0l forged internals, 2200cc injectors, hx55 pro turbo, nuke fuel system, vag red top coils.
Bought a used vems ecu that supposedly was installed on m50b25 turbo with ethanol.
Need to know if I can connect vag coils to 36 pin connector.
If I didn't wrote enough details, please forgive me since I never worked with any aftermarket ecus and trying to get everything done by myself.
Pics of vems attached
Thank you in advance

Hi, I have used Vemsdisplay for a few years, now I got a Pixel mobile phone, and the picture does not fit on the screen, only about 2/3 of it is displayed.
Anyone BTDT and fixed it?

Triggering / Re: Cam Trigger Wheel Review
Last post by jrussell - November 21, 2023, 09:44:59 PM
Looks like on that wheel the rising edges are 90 degrees apart (that would typically be falling edge on a hall sensor signal).

So you'd want to set the hall sensor to rising edge in VemsTune. Then do a triggerlog.

You should be able to see a value in the triggerlog results where "Ignore sectrig pulses above" can be set and it can use the first "wide" tooth after the missing tooth on the crank sensor. The value would be 22 if the missing tooth is at TDC, but it's probably not, so I can't tell ahead of time.

Your modification should work just fine, but it's not needed in my opinion.
